The report from the July 23 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 1,113. Compared to last week at 1,193 and 412 last year.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers steady to firm; slaughter cows and bulls $1-$3 lower. No test on replacement cows. Trade and demand good.

Bulk supply medium and large frame 1-2, 300-700 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 15 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 1 percent, replacement cows 1 percent, and feeders 83 percent.

Feeder steers: medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $120-$127; 400-500 lb., $102-$108; 500-600 lb., $104-$107; 600-700 lb., $102- $105.

Medium and large frame 2, 400- 500 lb., $100-$103; 500-600 lb., $94-101; 600-700 lb., $91.50- $96.50.

Heifers: medium and large frame 1, 400-500 lb., $100-$103; 500- 600 lb., $103-$112; 600-700 lb., $98.25-$105.

Medium and large frame 2, 400- 500 lb., $93-$98; 500-600 lb., $92-$99; 600-700 lb., $91.25-$96.

Slaughter cows: breakers, 75- 80 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $52.50-$58.50; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,200- 1,600 lb., average dressing, $49- $54, high dressing, $56; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,000-1,200 lb., high dressing, $47-$57, high dressing, $60; lean, 85-90 percent lean, 1,000-1,200 lb., average dressing, $48-$49.50; lean, 85-90 percent lean, 800-1,000 lbs., average dressing, $40-$46; high dressing, $49.50-$55; lean, 85-90 percent lean, under 800 lb., low dressing, $31-$32.

Slaughter bulls: yield grade 1- 2: 1,090-1,625 lb., $61.25-$66.50; high dressing, 1,340-1,990 lb., $69-$74.50.

Replacement cows: medium and large 1-2 young to middle aged 765-1,130 lb. cows, 4-5 months bred, $580-$775.

Cow/calf pairs: medium and large frame 1-2 young to middle aged 900-1,160 lb. cows with 100- 250 lb. calves, $740-$750 per pair.
