Britches and Bows golf tournament

      Nearly 100 couples from all across Texas competed in the annual Britches and Bows tournament, held Saturday and Sunday at Hancock Park Golf Course. The Lampasas Ladies Golf Association, event sponsor, gave out $9,700 in prizes. Flight results follow.

      3C Cowboy Fellowship will sponsor a ranch rodeo Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Killeen Rodeo Grounds. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and there is no charge for admission.

      Texans throughout the Brazos River basin are beating the heat by taking trips to nearby rivers and lakes. The Brazos River Authority encourages visitors to enjoy the water, while keeping in mind the health risks associated with swimming in or around stagnant or slowmoving water.

7 Blue Blazes competing at state meet
      The Blue Blazes track club is well represented at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Games of Texas state track meet in San Antonio, with seven Lampasas athletes competing. Field events were scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, and the meet runs through Sunday.
