The Star and Evant fire departments responded to a fire in a pasture near Star between County Road 539 and CR 536 on Tuesday. About 50 acres burned, mostly pasture, including a hunter's camp and thick underbrush. Due to a spotter plane working a fire in Lampasas County, the fire at Star was noticed and a helicopter was called. It responded quickly from Lampasas along with a chemical-dumping plane, and within a short time, the fire was contained in the area.
