Lometa graduates earn UIL $1,000 scholarship

Taylor Bradley Taylor Brianne Bradley, a graduate of the 2008 Lometa High School class, has been awarded a scholarship by the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation.

Miss Bradley was presented an H-E-B Pharmacy Scholarship in the amount of $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year.

The scholarship is awarded to a student who has participated in the University Interscholastic League Academic State Meet and who has compiled an outstanding record of academic and extracurricular achievement and plans to enter the pharmacy profession.

This year the TILF awarded 393 new awards and will renew approximately 225 awards for a total of more than 600 scholarships for 2008-09, with a value of over $1 million. Recipients may attend any approved college or university in Texas.

Miss Bradley competed in oneact play at the 2007 UIL Academic State Meet.

In addition, she also participated in UIL current issues and events, informative speaking, track and field, cross country and softball throughout her high school career.

James Logsdon Miss Bradley, the salutatorian of her class, is the daughter of Wendell and Julie Bradley. She plans to attend the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and major in pharmacy.

James Keith Logsdon, a 2008 Lometa High School graduate, has been awarded a scholarship by the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation.

Logsdon received a Spalding Sports Worldwide award for $1,000, payable $500 each semester of the first year.

The Spalding Sports award was awarded to 40 students who have participated in the University Interscholastic League Academic State Meet and who have compiled an outstanding record of academic and extracurricular achievement.

This year the TILF awarded 393 new awards and will renew approximately 225 awards for a total of more than 600 scholarships for 2008-09, with a value of over $1 million. Recipients may attend any approved college or university in Texas.

Logsdon competed in one-act play at the 2006 and 2007 UIL Academic State Meets.

He also participated in UIL feature writing, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, track and field, cross country and football throughout his high school career.

Logsdon, the valedictorian of his graduating class, is the son of Bill and Kathy Logsdon. He plans to attend Angelo State University and major in psychology.
