The financial services firm Edward Jones recently was named the No. 1 company in the "75 Best Companies to Work for in Texas" ranking by Texas Monthly magazine, according to Ken McDaniel, a financial advisor in Lampasas.

Texas Monthly teamed up to rank the state's best employers with the Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., and local partners the Texas Association of Business and the Texas State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management.

The ranking was based on an employer inventory of practices and an anonymous survey of associates, who were asked to agree or disagree with dozens of statements about the firm, teamwork and their individual experience at the firm.

Edward Jones has 984 branch offices all over Texas.

The "Best Companies to Work for in Texas" honor is the third important recognition the firm recently has received. For the ninth year, Edward Jones was named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For in America," by Fortune magazine in its annual listing.

The firm took the No. 4 spot overall in the Fortune ranking and was named to the No. 2 spot for large companies.

For the 15th consecutive year, Registered Representative, a trade magazine, rated Edward Jones No. 1 among the nation's leading brokerages in its anonymous survey of the firm's own financial advisors. Edward Jones also ranked highest in investor satisfaction among full-service brokerage firms in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007, 2006 and 2005 Full-Service Investor Satisfaction studies.
