Charles Jarrod Cheek, 30, of Denton died July 13, 2008, at his residence.

Funeral services were July 18 at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, Ill., with the Rev. Pete Vinson officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Vienna.

Mr. Cheek was born Feb. 10, 1978, in Paducah, Ky., to Billy Cheek and Vicki Cavitt Cheek.

He was a 1998 graduate of Killeen High School and was a driver for Owens & Minor Medical Distribution in Coppell for the past 1 1/2 years.

Mr. Cheek was a member of the ROTC and American Hunters Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a non-denominational Protestant.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Vicki and Wayne Gordon, of Lampasas; his father and stepmother, Billy and Barbara Cheek, of Cobden, Ill.; a son, Lane Charles Cheek, of Rogers; his fiancee, Tina Kliebert, of Denton; a sister, Shekinah Cheek, of Anna, Ill.; grandparents, John and Geraldine Cavitt, of Vienna; a niece; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Pauline Cheek.

The family requested memorials be made to the Lane Charles Cheek Educational Fund in care of Old National Bank, 509 S. University Ave., Carbondale, Ill., 62901.
