Artist of the Month
Marlene Corbin, a member of the Lampasas Art Club, is the July Artist of the Month. Her display is on the foyer of My Girls in front of the art gallery. There are samples of her early work -- predominantly still life in oils -- as well as commissioned paintings on loan and some from her personal collection. Mrs. Corbin paints architecture and still life in acrylics and oils. She also does pen and ink drawings, photo restoration and tinting and hand-coloring photographs. A native Texan, Mrs. Corbin was born in Lampasas County. She also has lived in Arizona and California. She and her husband, Gladden, have reared three children in Lampasas. Since retirement, Mrs. Corbin spends much of her time painting and sharing her knowledge of art. She offers free classes at the gallery on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Phone 556-9755 for information.
