      Lometa ISD presented its L Award to Jamie Smart. The honor is given to a Lometa resident who goes beyond the call of duty to support the schools. A Lometa High School alumnus, Smart is principal of the school's alternative campus.

      Tarleton State University at Stephenville has released the 2008 spring semester Distinguished Students List. To be eligible, a student must be a freshman or sophomore with a minimum 3.25 grade point average and no grade lower than a C, or a junior or senior with a minimum 3.5 grade point average and no grade lower than a C.
