A large crowd gathered Wednesday to turn over the first shovels of dirt for Taylor Creek Elementary. Construction is set to begin on the prekindergarten through fifh-grade campus at the county's east end. Projected completion is for the opening of the 2009-10 term. On hand for ceremonies were, from left, LISD Superintendent Dr. Brant Myers; James Briggs, president of the board of trustees; J.W. Hutcherson, chairman of the group that pushed for campus construction; and trustees Max Keele, Wesley Crow and Ron Farr.
