Chancellor to visit Texas Tech Highland Lakes
Kent Hance, chancellor of Texas Tech University System, will visit Texas Tech University at Highland Lakes on Jan. 8 for an open house from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Frank Fickett Educational Center, 806 Steve Hawkins Pkwy. in Marble Falls.

Hance became chancellor of the Texas Tech University System on Dec. 1, 2006. Prior to that, he was a partner in Hance Scarborough Wright, an Austin and Dallas law firm.
A native of Dimmitt, Hance earned a bachelor of business administration from Texas Tech in 1965 and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1968. He returned to Lubbock to practice law and teach business law at the university. In 1973, he was named an outstanding professor at Texas Tech.
He began a career in politics in 1974 when he won a seat in the Texas Senate. Four years later, Hance won election to the 19th Congressional District. After Congress, he was elected Texas railroad commissioner.
After his visit to Marble Falls, the chancellor will visit Texas Tech University at Fredericksburg later in the day.
