Filing for ballot
spots continues Candidates for justice of the peace, sheriff, constable and tax assessor-collector, along with those running for county attorney, county commissioner or for judgeships on the county criminal or probate court or court at law must file with their party's county chairman. As of Dec. 27, the following county Republican candidates had filed with Lampasas County Republican Party Chairman Skipper Wallace: Robert Vincent for the Lampasas County Commissioners Court, Precinct 1; Lowell Ivey for the Commissioners Court, Precinct 3; David Whitis for sheriff; Linda Crawford for tax assessorcollector; Gordon Nelson for Precinct 1 constable; and Larry Allison for county attorney. For the Democrats, Hiram Walker Jones has filed for the Precinct 4 constable position, said Lampasas County Democratic Party Chairman Keith King. Dale Henry of Lampasas has filed as a Democrat for the office of state Railroad Commissioner. He will face Mark Thompson of Hamilton in the Democratic primary. Republican Michael Williams, the incumbent, had not drawn an opponent for his primary as of Dec. 27. David Floyd has filed as a Libertarian. Incumbent United States Senator John Cornyn has filed for re-election and will face Larry Kilgore in the Republican primary. Democratic candidates for the Senate seat include Rick Noriega of Houston, Ray McMurrey of Corpus Christi and Gene Kelly of Universal City. Libertarian Scott Jameson also has filed for the Senate seat. Incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway, whose District 11 includes Lampasas County, has filed as a Republican candidate. No Democratic or Libertarian challenger had filed as of Dec. 27. Incumbent District 24 State Senator Troy Fraser, who represents Lampasas County, has filed for reelection in the Republican primary. Bill Oliver has filed for the Libertarian primary. Jimmie Don Aycock, incumbent state representative for District 54 -- which includes Lampasas County -- has filed for the Republican primary. Nicolaas Kramer has filed for the seat as a Libertarian. Incumbent Gail Lowe of Lampasas, State Board of Education member for District 14, has filed for re-election in the Republican primary. John Shuey has filed for the Libertarian Party nomination, and Edra Bogle will seek the post as a Democratic candidate. | |||||
