Cattle Auction

The report from the Dec. 19 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 632. Lampasas Cattle Auction had 840 last week. Feeder steers and heifers steady; slaughter cows $3-$5 higher; and bulls steady.

Bulk supply medium and large 1- 2 300 lb. to 750 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Feeder steers and heifers accounted for 75 percent and slaughter cows and bulls 25 percent of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 50 percent of the run and heifers 50 percent. Steers and heifers over 600 lbs. totaled 25 percent.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200-300 lb., $124-$137; 300-400 lb., few $121-$138; 400- 500 lb., $113-$126; 500-600 lb., $100-$118; 600-700 lb., $91-$105; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $85-$93.

Medium and large frame 2, 300- 400 lb., $96-$118; 400-500 lb., $94-$112; 500-600 lb., $90-$105; 600-700 lb., $86-$93; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $82-$88.

Medium and large frame 3, 300- 400 lb., $75-$84; 500-600 lb., $68- $72; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $70- $74.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $103- $115; 400-500 lb., $96-$113; 500- 600 lb., $90-$106; 600-700 lb. $88-$105; few 700-800 lb. yearlings, $70-$74.

Medium and large frame 2, 200- 300 lb., $90-$110; 300-400 lb., $90-$96; 400-500 lb., $87-$100; 500-600 lb., $81-$87; 600-700 lb., $85-$88.

Medium and large frame 3, 400- 500 lb., $82-$88; 500-600 lb., $74- $77.

Slaughter cows: breakers, 75-80 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., high dressing, $51-$52; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $47-$52, high dressing, $52-$55; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,000-1,200 lb., average dressing, $49-$54, high dressing, $55; lean, 85-90 percent, 1,000- 1,200 lb., low dressing, $34-$42; lean, 85-90 percent, 800-1,000 lb., low dressing, $31-$41.

Slaughter bulls: yield grade 1- 2, 1,400-2,100 lb., $53-$59; high dressing, 1,800-2,200 lb., $63-$66; low dressing, 1,000-1,300 lb., $44- 52.

Replacement cows: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged 1,000-1,300 lb. cows, 4 to 7 months bred, $625-$850 per head.

Cow/calf pairs: medium and large 1-2, aged 1,000-1,300 lb. cows with 150-300 lb. calves $1,030-$1,150 per pair.
