LHS grad Wiginton accepts Mexia post Lee Wiginton officially announced he will accept the head football coach/boys' athletics coordinator position at Class 3A Mexia High School. Wiginton, a 1989 Lampasas High School graduate whose father, Ken, coached the Badgers, has spent the past four seasons at Class 2A Comfort, leading the program to three playoff appearances. From 2000-04, Wiginton coached at Class 1A Bosqueville, leading the Bulldogs to three playoff berths in four seasons. The Bulldogs' playoff appearance in 2000 was the program's first. Wiginton started his career as the quarterbacks and receivers coach under Rod Hess at LHS, helping guide the Badgers to the regional finals in 1994. He left LHS to take the offensive coordinator's spot at Class 4A Bastrop the following year. In the five seasons Wiginton was at Bastrop, the team made the playoffs three times, including a run to the state semifinals in 1995. In 14 seasons as a varsity football coach, Wiginton's teams have participated in 24 playoff games. Lee is the son of Ken and Lou Wiginton of Lampasas. |
