Statewide casting call issued for major Hollywood film
Francine Maisler Casting is conducting a statewide casting search for spirited, interesting, rural boys ages 10-14 to be considered for leading roles in an upcoming major Hollywood family movie to be filmed in Texas.
An open casting call is set for Saturday in Brownwood at The Brownwood Coliseum, 500 E. Baker, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For driving directions, please call the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce at (325) 646-9535 or visit the website at brownwoodchamber. org.
The casting call will consist of a brief talk with a member of the casting team and possibly an interview on camera. All participants should bring a non-returnable photo. No appointment is necessary. For questions, call the Information Line at (512) 637-9782.
Acting experience is not necessary. Filmmakers are looking for children with old-fashioned qualities in small-town environments.
Although details of the project are being kept confidential during the casting process, the filmmakers have been nominated for Academy Awards and have produced numerous films considered to be critically acclaimed.
"The filmmakers are known to us and are well respected both nationally and internationally," said Bob Hudgins, director of the Texas Film Commission. "I assure you that this is a professional, legitimate film project, and one that I expect we'll all be proud of."
The role calls for a boy who is confident, lively and thoughtful. The statewide search will be completed by February, with filming to commence in March.
