Garden club gathers Members of Browning Community Garden Club enjoyed a recent Thanksgiving get-together at the Kempner Brick Oven. A brief meeting was held. Sharron Van Weelden reported that fruit baskets were provided for residents of both Hill Country and Windcrest Nursing centers, and a Christmas tree was decorated for the lobby at Windcrest. Winter coats were collected for distribution to the needy by Wendys. Carol Huls, Roxanne DeWalt, Mrs. Van Weelden and Doris Magnor attended the Zone One Fall Meeting at Gatesville. Featured speaker Dr. Joan Windmiller offered "It is Chic to Reek," (all about garlic). It listed medicinal values of garlic, such as dilating blood vessels, it is an anti-coagulant, and it inhibits the growth of various bacteria. The club meets today at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Huls. Arbor Day will be observed Jan. 18 with the planting of a crepe myrtle tree at the Kempner Post Office. ![]() |
