LHS freshman girls 10-0 The Lampasas High School freshman girls' basketball team hammered Marble Falls, 54-11, on Tuesday to run its record to 10-0. The Lady Badgers outscored the Lady Mustangs 31-4 in the first half, including a 17-0 advantage in the opening frame. They also held the Lady Mustangs scoreless in the third quarter. Madison Morris outscored the Lady Mustangs by herself, recording a game-high 12 points. Fallon Holland scored 10, and Marisa Bogart added six. The Lady Badgers were scheduled to open play in the Llano Tournament on Thursday. They return home to play Burnet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. LHS JV Boys 55, Rockdale 31: The Badger junior varsity improved to 3-6 on the year with a decisive home win against the Tigers on Tuesday. Astin Murray, Eduardo Davila and Zach Radenz each scored nine points. "We played a total team game," Coach Kyle Black said. "All the guys contributed, and it was great to watch. We played strong defense and were patient enough to run our offense and get some easy shots. It was a good win for our team." The Badger JV was coming off a 2-1 showing at the San Saba Tournament, beating Hamilton's varsity, 70-59, and Llano's varsity, 41-35, and losing to Eldorado's varsity, 63-46. Against Hamilton, Jorge Mendoza scored 15, and Miles Russell scored 14. Against Llano, Murray scored 13, and Mendoza added eight. Against Eldorado, Russell scored 14, and Davila chipped in eight. Marble Falls JV Girls 38, LHS 34: The Lady Mustangs outscored the Lady Badgers 11-6 in the fourth quarter and 21-14 in the second half to hand the Lady Badgers a road loss on Tuesday. The Lady Badgers (3-7) got 12 points from Lori Stafford and 10 from Kayla Lowery. LHS 9th Boys 38, Rockdale 15: The Badgers outscored the Tigers in every frame, including 12- 4 in the first and 12-3 in the fourth, to capture a home win on Tuesday. The Badgers (3-5) got 12 points from Colton Perkins, 10 from Lazarus Salazar and five from Jamaal Harvey. "Lazarus played very well inside, Colton drove in the lane well and made things happen for others on offense," Coach Ben Needham said. "Ryan Peter's aggressiveness on defense led to Rockdale gaining few offensive rebounds." Hudson Bend 8th A 43, LMS 8th A 36: After being down by as many as 17 points in the first half, the Badgers rallied to make this one close on Monday night. Brandon Scott scored a teamhigh 16 points and added seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Tanner Swinford had seven points, four rebounds, two assists and a block. Bailey Millican had six points, five rebounds and a block. Lucas Atkison had five points and a team-high eight rebounds. The Badgers will play at West Ridge Middle School on Monday. |
