Seven-year jail term given in district court action

Judge Joe Carroll held a short session of 27th District Court last week that included assessing a seven-year term in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division to 49-yearold Lester Jerome Bailey.

Bailey, charged with evading arrest with a vehicle, was credited with jail time served.

In other action, Monica Sanchez, 30, received two years in state jail on her charge of bond jumping. She also was given credit for time served.

Wylon Luke Joy, 26, entered a guilty plea and faces a Jan. 25 punishment hearing for possession of a controlled substance.

The judge ordered his bond lowered, and Joy is set for a presentence investigation.

In a case of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, Austin resident Jeffery Wade Menem, 39, is set to enter a plea and face punishment on Jan. 25.
