Freshman girls still smoking
Sub-Varsity Basketball

The Lampasas High School freshman girls' basketball team kept on sizzling Tuesday night, hammering Brownwood, 48-30, to improve its season record to 9-0.

The Lady Badgers led 20-10 at the half and put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring Brownwood 19-9 in the frame.

The team's strength heading in was its balance, and it maintained that balance on Tuesday.

Jennifer Herron led the team with a game-high 10 points, and Kallen Vann, Mikenzie Myrick and Fallon Holland each chipped in eight.

"The team continues to play hard and gets a lot of points off its aggressive defensive play," Coach Jimmie Cain said.

The Lady Badgers are scheduled to play at Marble Falls on Tuesday.

Brownwood JV Girls 38, LHS 30: The Lady Badgers scored 20 points in the second quarter Tuesday, but they managed just 10 more in the other three periods combined and fell to 3-6 on the year.

Taylor 9th Boys 57, LHS 33: The Ducks used a 19-2 secondquarter run on Tuesday to drop the Badgers to 1-3 on the year.

Colton Perkins led the Badgers with 12 points, while Justin Rivas and Lazarus Salazar added four apiece.

"We played well in the fourth quarter, but I think we still had a little rust left on us from the Thanksgiving break," Coach Ben Needham said.
