Lady Badgers nipped on road
Brownwood 49, Lampasas 48

Jennifer Howard: Senior guard scored a team-high 17 points against Brownwood.
The Lampasas High School girls' basketball team fell just short Tuesday night in a back-and-forth struggle at Brownwood.

Brownwood used a 17-13 second quarter advantage to sneak away with a 49-48 win.

"I felt the girls played with a lot of heart and effort," LHS head coach Mitzi Lancaster said. "At critical moments in the game, we made some critical mistakes - missed some blockouts and committed some turnovers. These girls know how to win. We just need to regain some confidence."

LHS (2-7) led 10-9 after one quarter before Brownwood's 17- point second quarter gave it a 26-23 halftime lead.

LHS cut the margin to 35-34 after three quarters and played even the rest of the way.

Senior guard Jennifer Howard, fresh off an all-tournament selec- tion at the Kennedale Tournament, led the Lady Badgers with 17 points. Guard Molly Rogers added eight points, and guards Casey O'Connor and Michelle Benton scored seven apiece.
