Postal Service releases holiday mail guidelines

The United States Postal System has released a list of mailing guidelines in the U.S., to military serving overseas and internationally to help better assure Christmas delivery.

In the U.S., letters and cards and priority mail should be sent by Dec. 20. Express mail should be sent by Dec. 22, and parcel post mail should go out by Dec. 15.

Holiday mailing guidelines for military mail follow. Parcel post deadlines have already passed.

Addresses to APO/FPO, AE and zip codes 090-092, 094-098, 340 and 963-966: letters and cards and priority mail, Dec. 11; Express mail, Dec. 18. Parcel airlift mail, Dec. 4.

AE and zip code 093: letters and cards and priority mail, Dec. 4; parcel airlift mail, Dec. 1. Express mail is not available.

To Mexico, Asia and Pacific Rim, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Caribbean, Europe and Middle East: Dec. 11 is the guideline for letters and cards and priority mail, while Express mail deadline is Dec. 17.

To Central and South America, Dec. 4 is the guideline for letters and cards and priority mail. Express mail guideline is Dec. 17.

Global express is guaranteed if mailed by Dec. 19 to international areas.
