Funeral services for Herschel Benjamin Hamric Jr., 81, of Lampasas were Nov. 29, 2007, at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. George Lumpkin and J.W. Hutcherson officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.

Mr. Hamric died Nov. 26 at his residence.

He was born Feb. 4, 1926, in Pensacola, Fla., to Herschel Benjamin Hamric Sr. and Lorraine Parker Hamric.

Mr. Hamric graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, earning a business degree.

He was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity and played football while at Southwestern.

Mr. Hamric then entered the service, joining the U.S. Navy. He served during World War II and Korea, retiring as a lieutenant commander.

He moved his family to Lampasas in 1964, where he began ranching and was involved in the insurance industry.

Mr. Hamric married Bobbie F. Perkins in 1947 in Lampasas. She preceded him in death, in 2005.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rotary Club, Men's Golf Association and the Kiwanis Club, where he was past president. Mr. Hamric also held membership in the Masonic Lodge and was former chairman of the Lampasas County Republican Party.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Milton Kenan, of Crawford, Luanne and Darrell Blair, of Leander, and Debbie and Ron Kuker, of Lampasas; a brother, Bob Hamric, and wife, Mazi, of Austin; five grandchildren, Tracie Kenan, Kari Roy, and husband, Jay Paul, Haley Fears, and husband, Braxton, Chase Kuker and Jordan Kuker; and four great-grandchildren, Judson Roy, Straton Roy, Savannah Fears and Layla Fears.

The family requested memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, U.S. Highway 190 East, Lampasas, TX 76550.
