Freshmen open season 8-0

2007-08 LHS Freshman Girls' Basketball Team
The Lampasas High School freshman girls' basketball team took a well-deserved rest during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Lady Badgers needed to reload after firing out of the blocks for an 8-0 start, which included a tournament title at the Killeen Shoemaker Tournament Nov. 16- 17.

The Lady Badgers entered the holiday break undefeated after a 51- 27 win against Killeen Ellison last Tuesday night. The game saw three Lady Badgers (Jennifer Herron, Marisa Bogart and Fallon Holland) hit double figures in scoring, showing the kid of balance that propelled the team to the tournament title at Shoemaker.

At the Shoemaker Tournament, the Lady Badgers knocked off Temple, 57-12, Killeen, 33-19, Shoemaker, 44-39, and Harker Heights, 37-22, in the championship game.

Against Temple, a game LHS led 43-7 at the half, Bogart and Madison Morris scored 10 points apiece, Mikenzie Myrick scored eight, and Herron added seven. In the win against Killeen, a game Killeen led 6-2, Morris scored 13 and Herron chipped in nine.

In the semifinal win against Shoemaker, Herron scored 12, Myrick added nine, and Holland tallied eight.

In the championship-game win against Harker Heights, Bogart scored 10, and Holland and Herron each chipped in eight.

The Lady Badgers are scheduled to play Brownwood on the road at 5 p.m. tonight.
