Community giving
The Lampasas unit of the Salvation Army kicked off its holiday bell-ringing campaign at a local store, in conjunction with the traditional onset of Christmas shopping. Susan Burgdorfer, left, chairman of the local Salvation Army, and Bobbie Hudson, right, representing Hochheim Prairie Mutual Insurance, were the first volunteers of the Yule season, and fought the bitter cold to collect funds to be used to assist local needy residents. Hailey Richard was one of the first donors. Bell-ringers will be in front of Wal-Mart through Dec. 22. Phone Ms. Burgdorfer at 734-5379 to schedule a time to volunteer.
