PEC needs audit

I suppose everyone has gotten a copy of PEC's letter to its members. Aside from the usual condescending tone, talking down to us like we are very dull children, the letter lists many things to be done in the future. There is nothing listed that has been done. I do not think there was any discussion and review of any member's suggestions. There might have been some guidance from the state legislative leadership.

For more than a year, there has been no secret that Ben was thinking of retiring and no secret that he was working hard on a retirement bundle that would be "one for the record books."

There is only one way to fix the mess inside PEC, and that is a series of audits. My idea is that PEC has not had an honest audit in the past 40 years. I certainly do not consider that any audit done by that Swiss bunch based in New Mexico would be useful. A serious audit on each of the departing executives would shake a lot of monkeys out of the trees.

The long list of promises shows how far off-base PEC has been for many years. Letting Ben hang around drawing his multi-million-dollar salary is not the way to operate. I certainly do not recommend he should have anything to do with finding a new CEO.
