Boxtops, labels accepted to raise funds for school

Kline Whitis Elementary has launched its 2007-08 Box Tops for Education fund-raising campaign. This year's goal is to earn $2,000 through Box Tops to earn money for the campus.

Box Tops for Education is a school fund-raising program sponsored by General Mills. To date, the program has helped America's schools raise over $200 million to buy items they otherwise could not afford: library books, school supplies and playground equipment.

The program offers school supporters three ways to earn cash for schools through everyday activities such as buying groceries, shopping online and purchasing books. Schools can earn a total of up to $60,000 each year.

To assist Kline Whitis in its efforts, collect box tops from hundreds of specially marked products and drop them off at the school, or send them to Kline Whitis Elementary, Attention: Becca Dishman, Box Tops Coordinator, 500 S. Willis, Lampasas.

Donors also may sign up at the Box Tops for Education website at www.boxtops4education.com and designate Kline Whitis Elementary as their school of choice.

The website will show ways donors can help the campus, at no cost to themselves.

* * * Another program that assists schools is Campbell's Labels for Education Program, which awards free educational merchandise.

Campbell's has awarded over $100 million in free merchandise to schools nationwide since the program's inception 30 years ago.

Kline Whitis asks parents, teachers and friends in the community to collect Campbell's product proofs of purchase to be redeemed for merchandise for the school.

Funds can purchase computers, audio/visual equipment, physical education equipment, reference books, musical instruments and other necessities. "We're asking the community to help us collect points," said Mrs. Dishman. "If we work together, we can build better schools for our children."

Visit www.labelsforeducation- .com for a complete list of eligible products or to make a community pledge.

For information on either program, phone Mrs. Dishman at 556- 6946. The program runs through June 1.
