Gov. appoints Lometa man to committee

Governor Rick Perry appointed Joseph Bluntzer Jr. of Lometa, along with two others, to the Select Interim Committee to Study the Practice of Breeding White-Tailed Mule Deer.

The appointment is in accordance with the 80th Legislature's passing of Senate Bill 573, with terms to expire at the pleasure of the governor.

Bluntzer is president and owner of Warren Bluntzer Wildlife Consulting Services Inc. He was a game warden with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for 25 years.

Bluntzer was a founding director of the Texas Deer Association. He is also a member of the Texas Wildlife Association Deer Management Advisory Committee, Texas Exotic Wildlife Association and Texas Cattleman's Association.

He serves on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Breeder User Group Committee and the Texas Chronic Wasting Disease-Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Task Force.
