Lady Badgers fall to powerful Peaster on the road, 61-50

Jennifer Howard: Senior guard led the Lady Badgers with 14 points on Friday.
The Lampasas girls' basketball team went on the road to Peaster on Friday and was handed a 61- 50 loss.

The Lady Badgers (1-3) lost their previous game at home, 60- 42 against China Spring. LHS head coach Mitzi Lancaster said Peaster was a tougher opponent than was balanced China Spring, and that her team's effort against Peaster greatly exceeded that of the effort it turned in against China Spring.

"They were the best team we've played," Lancaster said. "I thought we had a much better effort. Our execution was also better, but it still needs some work."

Senior guard Jennifer Howard led the team with 14 points, and sophomore post Sarah Bishop added 13.

LHS 9th at Killeen Shoemaker Tournament: The Lady Badger freshmen beat Temple, Killeen, Killeen Shoemaker and Harker Heights to capture the championship at the Killeen Shoemaker Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Badgers improved their season record to 7-0 with the wins.

"What a great effort," Lancaster said. "What coach (Jimmie) Cain and those girls have done so far this year is tremendous. It's been a long time since any girls' basketball team has started 7-0 here, and to go and win an outstanding tournament like that one, I just can't tell you how proud I am of those kids."
