New Braunfels woman dies in accident at Briggs A one-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon just over one mile south of Briggs on U.S. Highway 183 left a New Braunfels woman dead and another with serious injuries. A report filed by Burnet County Department of Public Safety Trooper IV Jose Juan Colombo states that Sunni Michelle Reimer, 20, a passenger in a 2000 Mitsubishi sport-utility vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by Burnet County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace James McElroy. Colombo's report notes that Desirae Elise Council, 20, was the driver and was southbound on U.S. 183. For unknown reasons, her vehicle left the road on the west side onto a grassy shoulder, the DPS trooper said. Ms. Council overcorrected, attempting to regain control of the vehicle. The SUV continued south in a side skid, crossing the highway. The vehicle left the road on the east side, where it rolled three times before coming to rest on its wheels facing west on the shoulder, Colombo said. Both women were wearing seat belts. Ms. Council suffered incapacating injuries, he reported. Colombo was assisted by Cpl. V William R. Talamentez and Trooper III Patrick McElroy, both of the Burnet DPS office; Burnet County Sheriff's Office Deputy Nathan Dodd; and Briggs, Oakalla and Florence volunteer fire department personnel. |
