Nominations sought for annual distinguished women awards

The Girl Scouts of Central Texas have begun accepting nominations for the Brownwood Area Women of Distinction Luncheon and awards. Deadline to submit a nomination is Jan. 10, 2008.

The award honors women who have distinguished themselves as outstanding members of their community through individual excellence and high levels of achievement. Seven women were honored at the 2007 event.

"Women of Distinction events provide a forum for Girl Scouts to recognize and honor local women who are role models for our membership," said Etta Moore, CEO for the Girl Scouts of Central Texas. "I encourage the community to nominate any woman who has exhibited leadership capabilities, commitment to the community and overall excellence."

Nominees should be from Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Erath, Hamilton, Lampasas, McCulloch, Hills or San Saba counties.

Forms can be completed online at www.gsctx.org or downloaded as a PDF from the website. Nomination forms also are available at the Heart of Texas Program Center, 1200 Avenue D in Brownwood. To request a form by mail, call (800) 346-3215.

The luncheon is set March 18, 2008 at the Brownwood Country Club. Tickets may be purchased for $35 a seat. Proceeds benefit the Girl Scouts of Central Texas. For more information, visit the website at www.gsctx.org.
