Llano tops Lady Badgers

Llano's pressure defense kept the Lady Badgers' offense out of sync throughout most of a 40-27 Llano win at Bozarth-Fowler Gymnasium on Saturday.

LHS (1-1) stayed within 29-22 after three quarters, but Llano broke the game open in the fourth.

"We struggled to score, and much of that was because of the pressure Llano put on us," LHS head coach Mitzi Lancaster said. "We had 25 turnovers, and it's hard to beat anyone much less a state-ranked team. The effort was commendable, but our execution on offense and defense was less than adequate."

Casey O'Connor and Molly Rogers led LHS with seven points apiece, and Jennifer Howard had six. Latoscha Sherman had six boards, and Lauren Barlow five.

The Lady Badgers are scheduled to play host to China Spring at 7:30 Tuesday night.

LHS JV 36, Llano 35: Lori Stafford led the way with nine points, and Makayla Valles chipped in eight as the Lady Badgers fought off Llano on Saturday.

LHS 9th 45, Llano 20: Jennifer Herron scored 14 points, Marisa Bogart tallied 12 and Madison Morris chipped in 10 as the Lady Badgers improved to 2-0 with a decisive home victory on Saturday night.
