Austin woman escapes wreck uninjured

PHOTO BY DAVID LOWE Janet Walsh's seat belt probably saved her life, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Michael Tatum said, after the Austin-area woman's 2005 Ford Escape rolled onto its top Sunday just east of the intersection of U.S. Highway 190 and County Road 3080.
An Austin-area woman avoided injury in a rollover Sunday on U.S. Highway 190 just east of the County Road 3080 intersection.

Janet Walsh of Manchaca was driving east in a 2005 Ford Escape when she drifted to the right off the highway about 4:20 p.m.

"She was either fatigued or asleep," Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Michael Tatum said. "She doesn't remember."

Ms. Walsh corrected left, then she overcorrected right, the trooper said. Her vehicle rolled halfway, sliding east on its top and coming to rest in the center turn lane.

Ms. Walsh, who did not require medical treatment, was wearing a seat belt.

"That probably saved her life," Tatum said.
