Mr. Quarles Price Wilburn Quarles Jr., 63, of Lampasas died Nov. 8, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services were Nov. 12 at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Lon Jones officiating. Graveside services followed at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Quarles was born May 18, 1944, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Price Wilburn Quarles Sr. and Geneva Dickerson Quarles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served more than 20 years. Mr. Quarles was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal with a Silver Loop, National Defense Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (Numeral 2), Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver and two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Sharpshooter Rifle Badge. Mr. Quarles was a resident of Lampasas for more than 20 years. He was a member of First Street Church of Christ. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Quarles worked in the purchasing department at Darnall Army Community Hospital at Fort Hood. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Head Quarles; two sons, James Quarles, and wife, Michelle, of Round Rock, and Keith Russell, of Lampasas; two daughters, Jackie Ritz, and husband, Jay, of Kempner, and Kara Law, and husband, Doug, of Copperas Cove; his mother, Geneva Quarles Risco, of Chattanooga; a sister, Charlotte Justice, and husband, Mike, of Georgia; and 10 grandchildren.
