Coleman, Null can clinch outright conference titles Saturday

With college football's regular season winding down, a few former Badgers will be playing Saturday in games that hold great bearing on conference championships.
Trinity at Austin College, 1 p.m.: The Tigers followed up the "Mississippi Miracle" with a convincing 34-6 win against Centre College last week.
A road win Saturday would give the Tigers (8-1, 5-1) a tie with Millsaps (7-2, 6-1) atop the Southern Collegiate Athletics Conference.
Because of the "Mississippi Miracle" -- a 15-lateral pass play to upend Millsaps 28-24 two weeks ago -- the Tigers would hold the tie-breaker.
Former Badger Chris Coleman caught four passes for 36 yards against Centre. On the year, he has hauled in 40 passes for 539 yards and two touchdowns.
West Texas A&M at Tarleton State, 7 p.m.: No. 4 West Texas A&M has already secured a share of the Lone Star Conference title, but a win at Stephenville would clinch the school's third straight title outright.
 | | Keith Null: Former Badger has missed last two games with ankle injury. |
|
The Buffaloes (10-0 overall, 8-0 in the LSC and 5-0 in the LSC South) are coming off a 31-0 win against then-LSC North leader Central Oklahoma. Former Badger quarterback Keith Null sat out with the high ankle sprain he suffered in a 41-31 win at Abilene Christian three weeks ago.
Null has rested the ankle the past two weeks and will be a game-time decision against No. 13 Tarleton. After the win against ACU, Null led all of NCAA Division II with 29 touchdowns and was second -- by a single yard -- in passing yardage with 2,814.
Tarleton (9-1, 7-1, 4-1) could win the conference title with a victory against WTAMU and an ACU loss to Midwestern State. A Tarleton win and an ACU win would create a three-way championship between WTAMU, Tarleton and ACU.
Navy at UNT, 3 p.m.: The Midshipmen were the biggest story in college football last week, as they broke a 43-game losing streak against Notre Dame with their 46- 44 triple overtime win in South Bend, Ind.
Former Badger Brock Stickler and the Mean Green will attempt to quell Navy's momentum on Saturday. UNT (1-7 overall, 1-4 in the Sun Belt) is coming off a bye week. Navy (5-4) is attempting to become bowl eligible with its sixth win of the season.
On the year, Stickler has caught 23 passes for 262 yards and a touchdown.
Mary Hardin-Baylor at
Howard Payne, 1 p.m.: UMHB rebounded from its only loss of the year in a big way last weekend with a 72-7 win against East Texas Baptist and clinched the American Southwest Conference title in the process.
The Cru (8-1, 7-0) has already sewn up a spot in the NCAA Division III playoffs, but a loss at Brownwood could cost the team an opportunity to play host to a firstround game by dropping UMHB in regional rankings. Howard Payne is 1-8 overall, 1-6 in the ASC.
UMHB freshman and former Badger Kristen Leverett has recorded eight solo tackles and 15 assists, while brother Kirsten has registered two solos and two assists.
Angelo State at Texas A&M-Kingsville, 7 p.m.: The Rams (2-7, 1-6 in the LSC and 1-4 in the LSC South) could end their season on a high note with a win at Kingsville (2-8, 2-6, 1-4).
Former Badger Ty Brock should see action on special teams and as a fullback for the Rams. On the season, Brock has been credited with a reception.
