Church sets music event

Gospel music will be offered Sunday at School Creek Baptist Church.

The Messengers will be in concert at School Creek Baptist Church Sunday at 5 p.m. The public is invited.

Based out of Gorman, The Messengers share the good news of Jesus Christ to a lost and hurting world.

Group members include Glen Clement, Jeff Seaton, Jeff Clark and Tommy Clark.

The group's first national exposure came from the release of "Saved by Grace," as recorded by the legendary gospel group The Florida Boys. "The son," written by Tommy Clark, charted nationally and was described by Singing News Magazine as "nothing short of a masterpiece."

Since then, The Messengers have achieved international prominence in Christian music and critical acclaim from all over the world. They have earned a first-round Dove Award nomination for Best Christian Country Album.

For merit in the promotion of new Christian music, The Messengers were honored with the international Good News Broadcasting Association's 2006 "Radio Mike" award.

They have been featured in Country Music Roundup Magazine and Path Finder Magazine, both in Europe, and Singing News Magazine, U.S. Gospel News, and Power Source Magazine.

The Messengers have had sevenstraight top-five-charting songs in Europe, with one single reaching number one in the NCM Euro Charts.

The group's first two single releases in the U.S. both charted top 40 in Power Source Magazine and U.S. Gospel News Christian country charts.

In addition to performing at churches throughout the state and beyond, The Messengers appearances include a showcase performance during the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Ky., a live 90-minute televised concert via "Prime Time Christian Broadcasting," and a performance before the statewide convention of Southern Baptist Churches at Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth.
