Former resident honored
The Jim Wells County Fair Association Board of Directors is dedicating the 2007 fair to Sue (Suellen Fretwell) Samuels, a former Lampasas resident.
Mrs. Samuels graduated from Lampasas High School in 1956, and moved to Oklahoma City to attend school for Western Union. She moved to Alice in 1957.
In 1958, she met and married Robert Samuels.
The Samuels family joined 4-H in 1972, and their children were involved with steers, lambs and hogs, earning high honors in all areas.
Mrs. Samuels became office manager for the Jim Wells County Extension Service and retired in June 2006 after 25 years of service.
She was honored with the Friend of 4-H Award and served as the parade grand marshal in 1996.
The Samuelses have two children and three grandchildren, all involved in 4-H and FFA.
