Lampasas, Lometa FFA groups take top honors

Lampasas and Lometa FFA organizations attained "sweepstakes" award status at the San Saba District FFA Leadership Contest held recently at Lampasas High School.

Lometa FFA won the smallschool division with first-place finishes in Junior FFA Creed, Junior Farm Skills; third place in Public Relations; and second place in Ag Issues.

Lampasas FFA won the largeschool sweepstakes award for accumulated points and placing in the 14-school district contest.

Brandyl Brooks placed first in Job Interview.

Second place went to Jeyde Kelley in Senior Creed Speaking.

Taking third was the Senior FFA Quiz Team, led by Samantha Sparger.

The Junior Quiz Team took second, led by Javier Renteria.

The Senior Farm Skills team took first with an electrical wiring demonstration with team members Colton Baker, Josh Biggs and Tate Stoneham.

The Junior Chapter Conducting Team placed first, led by Kirby Kennedy, president, and Blaire Stoneham, vice president. Other members include Renteria, Jennifer Hill, Drew Anderson, Kyle Austin, Rachael Price, Francisco Cadengo, Kline Elder and August Oestreich.

The Farm Radio Team placed third. Members include James Lansford, Brook Buttler and Meagen Jones.

The FFA Public Relations Team finished in first place. Members are Jessica Sterling, Sara Jackson, Kelsie Ray and Jordan Cantrell.

First- and second-place teams at district level qualified for the Area 7 FFA Association Leadership Contest set Nov. 14 in Seguin.
