Blood drive coordinator acknowledges donors
Due to a crisis with the Red Cross, the organization sent just five personnel for Monday's Community Blood drive, sponsored by AMVETS Post 80.
Wanda Meyers, blood drive coordinator, said generally 10 to 15 personnel are on hand for each drive.
Fifty-five pints of blood were collected, but the shortage of personnel resulted in about 25 donors who didn't give blood due to time constraints or they were turned away because of a shortage of Red Cross workers.
Mrs. Meyers said she apologizes for the inconvenience that was caused to donors. "Be assured that I will do everything possible to see that this doesn't happen again."
She also offered her thanks to all donors, local Boy Scouts and volunteers for their efforts in the event.
