Mr. Williams

J.W. Williams
Briggs resident J.W. Williams, 86, died Nov. 3, 2007, at Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas.

Funeral services were Nov. 5 at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas. Burial was at Watson Cemetery.

Mr. Williams was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Florence, the son of Jonathan (Jack) Victor and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Boydstun Williams.

He graduated from Briggs schools in 1941. Before entering the military, Mr. Williams attended Nixon Clay Business College in Austin.

He married Mildred (Millie) Juby on Aug. 19, 1942, in Austin, and they recently celebrated their 65th anniversary.

While in the military, Mr. Williams received an American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal.

He worked at Fort Hood for the Civil Service, and farmed in the Watson community all of his adult life.

Mr. Williams was very active in the Briggs Community Center, Chappel Hill United Methodist Church and Watson Cemetery Association.

Survivors include his wife, Millie; a son, David Williams, and wife, Susan; a daughter, Carolyn Graf, and husband, Tony; grandchildren, Brian and Penny Wood, Tracey and Gene Pickens, Brian and Donica Williams, Christy and David Murphy, Mindy Culpepper and Bobby Martin, and Deanna and Michael Bierens; and great-grandchildren, Collin, Emily, Kaylee, Chad, Chelsea, Tyler, Justin, Blakeley, Raegan, Kourtney, Chase and Walker.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dantie Daniel; a grandson, Heath Graf; and a great-granddaughter, Meagan Wood.

The family requested memorials be made to Chappel Hill United Methodist Church, 22520 FM 963, Lampasas, or Watson Cemetery Association in care of Linda Crawford, 728 Brown St., Lampasas.
