Cattle Auction

The report from the Oct. 31 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 1,155 compared to 828 last week and 1,198 last year. Feeder steers and heifers, $3-$5 lower; slaughter cows $2-$3 lower; slaughter bulls steady on light test.

Bulk supply medium and large 1- 2 300 lb. to 750 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Feeder steers and heifers accounted for 75 percent and slaughter cows and bulls 25 percent of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 60 percent of the run and heifers 40 percent. Steers and heifers over 600 lbs. totaled 25 percent.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $116-$133, 400-500 lb., $116-$126; 500-600 lb., $95-$107; 600-700 lb., $92- $104; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $90- $98; few 800-900 lb. yearlings, $90-$93.

Medium and large frame 2, 400- 500 lb., $95-$107; 500-600 lb., $89-$95; 600-700 lb., $85-$90; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $85-$92.

Medium and large frame 3, 500- 600 lb., $75-$88.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $114- $123; 400-500 lb., $950-$108; 500-600 lb., $90-$106; 600-700 lb., $89-$93; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $87-$90.

Medium and large frame 2, 400- 500 lb., $90-$95; 500-600 lb., $86- $94; 600-700 lb., $80-$90.

Slaughter cows: breakers, 75- 80 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., high dressing, $42.50; boners, 80- 85 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $42-$45; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,000- 1,200 lb., average dressing, $41- $46; lean, 85-90 percent, 1,000- 1,200 lb., low dressing, $30-$36; lean, 85-90 percent, 800-1,000 lb., low dressing, $29-$39.

Slaughter bulls: high dressing, 2,075 lb., $63; low dressing, 1,200-1,500 lb., $47-$52.

Replacement cows: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged 1,000-1,400 lb. cows, 4 to 8 months bred, $47-$63.
