CTC lists non-credit courses The Continuing Education Department of Central Texas College is holding registration for the following non-credit classes. Sound Therapy -- Tibetan Bowl History, Mythology and Uses: Learn how the blend of seven metals used to create Tibetan bowls creates harmonic overtones used to reduce stress, energize and heal. Students will receive a brief history of the bowls and the science behind what makes them work. The course also includes the sound and music of these and other Eastern instruments used in healing practices. Class meets Wednesday, 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Cost is $26. Glass Mosaic: Make beautiful stained-glass mosaic items for the garden. Learn how to use a glass cutter, mosaic cutter, pliers to shape glass shards and how to apply grout to complete the piece. Students will lay out their own glass contained in the kit of their choice and customize the art for their individual interests. Class meets Nov. 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $18 plus the cost of the kit ($30 to $60) which can be purchased from the instructor. Yoga: Designed to connect the mind and body, this exercise class will focus on strength and balance movements to increase flexibility and reduce stress. Class is appropriate for all fitness levels and meets Fridays, Nov. 9 to Dec. 14, 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Cost is $19. Common Sense Parenting: Discover tools to help make child rearing more of a joy. Class meets Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $14 plus $15 for the workbook. Access 2003: This introductory course teaches basic Access terminology and features of this database system. Learn to create a database and manipulate data to create reports and forms along with several techniques for finding specific information in the database, including sorting, filtering and building queries. Class meets Fridays, Nov. 9 to Dec. 14, 8 a.m. to noon. Cost is $84 plus $17 for the course book. Heartsaver AED with First Aid: Knowing how to administer CPR effectively and use a defibrillator could save the life of a family member, friend or coworker. Make sure you are prepared to help someone you love in a life-threatening situation. Course meets the requirements for childcare workers. Class meets Nov. 10, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $43 plus a course book. ![]() |
