UNICEF donations accepted

Among the traditions of trick-ortreating, church festivities and costumes, First United Methodist Church is reaching children in need through UNICEF.

Children with bright-orange boxes will be searching out loose change and carrying the boxes with them Wednesday night to collect funds for UNICEF.

First United Methodist is asking for community support. About 80 UNICEF boxes have been parceled out, with hopes of them being returned to the church full on Sunday morning.

UNICEF assists children who are victims of war, extreme poverty, disasters, violence and those with disabilities. It also provides inoculations, assists children in violent situations or suffering from AIDS, and helps recovery efforts in Third-World countries.

The program reaches worldwide, helping those in the U.S. and other countries.
