A glimpse of history
Sixth-graders challenged to increase knowledge through reading

Hanna Springs Intermediate School hosted many famous people recently, offering sixth-graders an opportunity to meet and learn more about history-makers.

The event concluded lessons on biographies in reading classes, and knowing about the contributions these people made in the past which will help students have an appreciation for the future.

Visitors brought various characters to life as they shared their biographies in small sessions in several classes.

The lives of the following were shared:

Christopher Columbus, by Bob Wright; Betsy Ross, by Victoria Stiewig; Annie Oakley, by Nancy Yeary; Lady Bird Johnson, by Ruthie Martin; Iwo Jima talk, by Leo Perkins; Sam Houston, by Margaret Oberender; and Mary McLeod Bethune, by Carolyn Hamilton.

Also, Libby Custer, by Carol Wright; Babe Ruth, by Suzanne Killingsworth; Oveta Culp Hobby, by Gail Lowe; Tiger Woods, by David Lowe; Stephen F. Austin, by Amy McDaniel; Davy Crockett, by Coach Joey McQueen; and Adine DeZavala, by Mrs. Wright.
