Three honored at FB contest

Lampasas County Farm Bureau members brought home honors from the District 8 Farm Bureau Contest in Temple Oct. 13.

Sara Jackson, daughter of Randle and Diana Jackson, was named District 8 Miss Farm Bureau and will compete Dec. 1 at the Texas Farm Bureau State Convention in Waco.

She earned a $1,000 scholarship and can increase the award if she takes first or second place at state.

Trevor McGuire, son of Wes and Marie McGuire, was the District 8 Farm Bureau Free Enterprise Speech Contest winner, earning him a $1,000 schol- arship and the chance to receive more scholarship money at the Waco convention.

State winners can take home a $4,000 scholarship for first place, and $2,500 for second place and a four-day trip to Washington, D.C. The next four winners increase their scholarship funds and also receive a Washington, D.C., trip.

In other recognition, Christine Groves was honored with the Farm Bureau Pioneer Award and will be recognized at the state convention. Her husband, Barney, was presented the same award several years ago.
