Lottery agency puts halt to fund-raising event

Project Graduation 2008's Cow Patty Bingo, scheduled for this Saturday, has been canceled.

Texas Lottery Commission officials notified organizers that the event is illegal.

Organizers said they were unaware that any legal issue was involved, because the event had been held for several years with no problem.

All contributors to the event will be contacted, organizers said.

A Halloween carnival, to be held in conjunction with the event, will still take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lampasas High School track, despite cancellation of Cow Patty Bingo.

Carnival activities will include a costume contest, face painting, a cake walk, a football throw, hay rides, golf putting and balloons.
