Sub-Varsity Football The Lampasas High School junior varsity White team jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 21-0 victory at home against Pflugerville Connally on Thursday. Three different Badgers found the end zone. Edward Grant scored from 17 yards out in the first quarter to give the Badgers a 6-0 lead. Ronnie Branch extended the lead to 12-0 with a 15-yard run, and Grant pounded his way across the goal line with the two-point run to make it 14-0 in the second quarter. Matt Finto closed out the scoring with a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter. Chris Harnois tacked on the extra point. "We won in all three phases of the game tonight," coach Stephen Hermesmeyer said. "We moved the ball well on offense, and our special teams made some big plays. Hats off to our defense for recording their first shutout of the year." LHS JV Blue 14, Goldthwaite 0: The Blue team picked up its second win of the season with a shutout on Thursday. Trey Sanchez gave the Badgers a first-quarter lead with a 2-yard touchdown run. E.A. Lopez helped extend the lead to 14-0 with an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter. Connally 9th 36, LHS 9th White 7: The Cougars scored at least once in every quarter to pick up a decisive win last week. The Cougars led 14-7 at the half before adding two touchdowns in the third quarter and another in the fourth. Lampasas got on the board in the first quarter when Ryan Peter scored from a yard out. |
