LHS grad earns scholarship

Joshua McDaniel

The Army Aviation Association of America (Quad A) has awarded Joshua E. McDaniel a $1,000 scholarship. McDaniel was considered and selected for the scholarship for his academic achievement and as a grandson of the late CWO Dewey C. Little Jr.

McDaniel is a 2007 Lampasas High School graduate and was in the top 5 percent of his class. He was a defensive starter on the varsity soccer team and participated in the LHS competitive one-act play.

He is an architecture major at Texas Tech University.

Little, like his grandson, also graduated from Lampasas High School. He had several overseas tours, including two in Vietnam, flying for the 57th Transportation Company and 120th Aviation.

At the time of his death at Fort Benning, Little was training for a return to Vietnam as part of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division.

McDaniel is the son of Steve and Kaye McDaniel.
