Pumpkin Patch open each day; annual party set

First United Methodist Church's annual Pumpkin Patch is open for visitors, with most of the church families on hand last weekend to help unload the 300-plus gourds and hay.

The patch is open daily from 3-7 p.m. until Oct. 30.

The church's second annual Pumpkin Patch Party is Sunday from 5-7 p.m., and is free to the community. Family-friendly costumes are welcome and treats will be given to children.

Field trips to the patch for homeschoolers can be arranged by contacting Youth Pastor Becky Jackson at 556-5513.

Pumpkin sales help the church fund its projects and events, including its Wednesday lunch study, summer mission camps and an Adopt-a-Tree program, in which the church hopes to prepare 400 Christmas gift boxes for soldiers overseas.

Students and adults who wish to help can volunteer to work in the patch by contacting the church office.

The patch also is a popular spot for fall photo-taking opportunities.
