City to sponsor Christmas card program

The city of Lampasas' new Christmas program, Lampasas Santa Village and Trail of Lights, was created to provide a Christmas setting for the community and to attract visitors during the holiday season.

In conjunction with Yule festivities, a Christmas card contest has been created that will provide displays around W.M. Brook Park.

Participants must follow established guidelines for consistency with an approved theme. Cards must be constructed on a full 4x8- foot sheet of plywood, either on one sheet of horizontal plywood or two vertical plywood sheets with gatetype hinges installed. Plywood must be primed and painted with oil-based paint, and cards must reflect a Christmas theme and be appropriate for public viewing.

Participants may design their own or use one of the examples provided by the city.

Cards may be donated to the city program or they may be taken home after the holiday. All donated displays will become property of the city and will be utilized the following year.

Entries should be delivered to the parks department at 906 S. Spring by Nov. 15. Entries will be judged on Dec. 8 at Brook Park.
