CTC non-credit courses listed

The Central Texas College (CTC) Continuing Education Department offers an variety of noncredit courses this semester. Registration is under way for the following classes.

Car Maintenance Basics: Learn how to care for the interior and exterior of your car, check tire pressure and fluid levels. Class will also cover tips on using owner's manuals and an overview of collision insurance and repairs. Class meets Oct. 20, 9-11 a.m. Cost is $14.

Life Lessons for Teens (age 12 and older): Explore ways to enhance self-esteem and self-worth while focusing on personal and academic goals. Course topics include discovering who you are and what matters most, resolving inner conflict, choosing how to shape your life, planning for growth and achieving your dreams. Class meets Saturdays, Oct. 20- Nov. 17, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $34.

Watercolor: You don't have to be an artist to take this class, just be open and willing to experiment. Class covers color theory, techniques and perspective. Subject matter will include trees, clouds and basic landscapes. Class set Mondays, Oct. 22- Dec. 3, 6:30- 9 p.m. Cost is $37.

Conversational Chinese: Introductory course will cover the basics of Chinese characters, grammar, greetings and personal conversation. Emphasis also on listening and speaking skills. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 23- Nov. 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Cost is $41 plus a book.

Everyday Wellness: Learn practical techniques using your senses to refresh your spirit, renew your mind, lift your emotions and relax your body. Discover and experience the rejuvenating effects of essential oils, sound therapy and selfhelp techniques to ease pain through positioning and self-work. Class meets Oct. 24, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Cost is $26.

Fused Glass Art: Learn the increasingly popular art of fused glass. You'll discover how to cut glass to make your project with glass and mosaic cutters and the ins and outs of glass firing compatibility. Class meets Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $16 plus $30 for a kit.
