Ed Jones offers broadcast course

Ken McDaniel, an Edward Jones financial adviser in Lampasas, will host a professional broadcast course, "Cutting Through the Technical Tax Rules Impacting Charities," for CPAs, tax professionals and attorneys on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at 410 S. Live Oak.

The program is designed to help practitioners in the nonprofit sector who may need an update about critical tax issues impacting their clients, their contributors and their boards and founders.

The program includes a thorough review of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 and its impact on charities and charitable gifting.

The course is approved for three credit hours of continuing professional education for CPAs and tax professionals. State accreditation varies for attorneys.

Topics to be covered include critical issues impacting public charities; maintaining public charitable status; unrelated business taxable income; excess benefit transactions; lobbying and the prohibition against policies; and excise taxes impacting the governance and operation of private foundations.

Enrollment fee is $60 for admission for one person and all course materials. Reservations are required by phoning 556-5487. Edward Jones can be found at www.edwardjones.com
